How it works

1. Who is going. The number of people and how many pints each.
2. Which pint. Guinness, Heineken, Rockshore and the rest, or the cheapest pint each pub pours.
3. Rounds of spirits. None, one or a few, any spirit or a named one like Jameson or a gin and tonic.
4. The extras. One figure for crisps, the taxi home or food, added to every pub alike.
5. The answer. Every pub in the town with the prices, by what the night costs there, with how much more each one is than the cheapest. Press one to see it on the map.

Questions

How much does a night out in the pub cost?

It depends on the town, the pub and the round. Four people on three pints each and one round of spirits is twelve pints and four spirits, so the pint price matters most. PinPint's calculator multiplies it out at every pub in the town from the prices drinkers have logged there, and puts the cheapest night first.

Is the cheapest pint always the cheapest night out?

No. A pub with a cheap pint can be dear for spirits, so once there is a round of shorts the order can change. The calculator adds both, at each pub, so you see which pub makes sense for the whole night.

Can I add food, crisps or a taxi?

Yes. Type one figure for crisps, the taxi home or anything else and it is added to every pub alike, since it costs the same wherever you drink.

Where do the prices come from?

From people using PinPint, who log what they paid at the bar, and from pubs that send their own prices. Only logged prices are used: a pub with no price for the pint you picked is left out rather than guessed.

Does it work in Britain?

Yes. Pubs in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are priced in pounds, the rest of Ireland in euro.
