1 Who We Are

PinPint ("we", "us", "our") is an Irish pub discovery and tracking application available at pinpint.ie. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this application.

2 Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the PinPint service:

• Account data — your name and email address when you register
• Gender — optionally provided at signup, used solely to power the anonymous "Who's here tonight" pub ratio feature
• Age confirmation — a confirmation that you are 18 or over (we do not store your date of birth)
• Pub activity — pubs you mark as visited, ratings, drink prices and notes you choose to add
• Location — only when you actively use the "locate me" or "best pint nearby" features; we do not continuously track your location
• Pub suggestions — name, address and notes you submit when suggesting a pub

3 Legal Basis (GDPR)

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, we process your data on the following legal bases:

• Contract — account data is necessary to provide the service you signed up for
• Consent — gender information is entirely optional and only processed with your explicit consent at signup
• Legitimate interest — anonymised usage patterns to improve the app

4 How We Use Your Data

• To create and manage your PinPint account
• To sync your pub history, ratings and notes across devices
• To display anonymous gender ratio data for pubs ("Who's here tonight")
• To improve pub location accuracy based on user suggestions
• To respond to support requests

Gender data is never displayed in a way that could identify an individual user. Ratios are only shown when a minimum number of users are present at a venue.

5 Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted within the European Union. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your information.

Local preferences (e.g. dismissed banners) are stored in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted to our servers.

6 Third-Party Services

PinPint uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database and authentication (EU-hosted)
• Netlify — web hosting
• Formspree — pub suggestion form submissions
• CARTO / OpenStreetMap — map tiles (no personal data shared)
• OSRM — pub crawl routing (no personal data shared)
• Google Fonts — typography (standard Google Fonts privacy policy applies)

7 Your Rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent — remove your gender data at any time without affecting your account
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@pinpint.ie. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) at dataprotection.ie.

8 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage data (not linked to any individual) may be retained indefinitely.

9 Children

PinPint is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of PinPint after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
